NO MR. PRESIDENT!
...a plea to save the lives of unborn children by John Piper

IS THIS WHERE WE'RE HEADED?

Sweden has approved gender-specific abortions, allowing parents to rid themselves of an unwanted daughter in a closely-watched ethics case:
Swedish women will be permitted to abort their children based on the sex of the fetus, according to a ruling by Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare.

The ruling was spurred by a request from Kai Wedenberg, head of the clinic where a woman twice requested, and received, an abortion based on sex.

Mr. Wedenberg asked for clarification from health officials after a woman, who already had two girls, requested amniocentesis and to be told the sex of her unborn child. She found out she was pregnant with another girl and asked for an abortion six days later.

The woman then became pregnant again, returned to the clinic and asked for another amniocentesis, which was not performed. Later, at her ultrasound, she asked the nurse to reveal the sex of her fetus, which was a girl. After learning this, the mother requested an abortion later that day and received it later that week.

I did not leap for joy at his inauguration. I wept for the loss of my country on election day.
I knew that decisions such as these were what Mr Obama is about. So did anyone else who was paying attention.
We are all mandated by the scriptures that you and I hold dear to pray for the leadership of this nation. If ever there was a time for it, it is now.

"Is this where we are headed?"

No, that is not where I am headed, nor God's church. My "President" is pro-life - eternally.

We can be thankful God is sovereign concerning countries, leaders, citizens. Even in the issue of abortion being discussed globally. What the gracious and merciful and God of love we serve!

Have you, Steven, viewed the desiringGod video that goes along with Pastor Piper's sermon? The clarity of the word "baby" being used in the Bible for developing and born being the same ~ lovely.

I wrote on this topic and briefly touched upon the issue China is facing as a result of selective abortion.

Part of the address is missing from view ~ I apologize. It elaborates on and is different from the youtube.com clip here and at the home page of Pastor Piper's site.

Whenever I read about Ahaz and Manasseh in 2 Kings I think about abortion. These men, in the darkest depths of idolatry burned their own children as sacrifices to their (demons) gods. It's hard to imagine anything more evil than the infanticide we kindly call "abortion."

The Gospel is mankinds only hope. And we, the children of Christ proclaim the good news first and foremost, for without the Gospel, humans have no chance of regeneration whatsoever.

And at the same time, God has called to expose the unfruitful works of unregenarant hearts and callous minds.

Thank you Pastor Piper for always preaching the Gospel and exposing the darkness with the light of truth.
And thank you as well Campi. You and Dr. Piper are much alike in your zeal for the Gospel foremost, and but also the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

I wanted to post a comment at Youtube.com, but you have to join - and i didn't want to do that. so, chicken that i am, here it is: To those who posted the scoffer posts: "You do not have to believe me, but I have an obligation to tell you, whether you believe me or not. God exists, and he is the source of life – life on earth, human life, plant life, the air, the environment, and our relationships with each other and with him.

Given that (which you may or may not believe), we have been given a trust, a stewardship; we are answerable to God for how well we care for that which he has given to us. We are to take care of the environment, preserve it, care for it, and help it to thrive.

We are to care for each other, preserve our relationships and help them to thrive, so far as we are able to do.

We are to care for life. We are especially responsible to care for the life of those who cannot care for themselves. What John Piper says is uncomfortable to hear, and you may not believe it; there is plenty of evidence in the universe that he’s speaking the truth. The problem with some who won’t believe is that they have suppressed the evidence.

However, we have an obligation to care for LIFE that has been entrusted to us. When we fail to do that, there will be an accounting. I will have to answer to God for what I’ve not done because I’ve shirked responsibility. I will have to answer to him for what I’ve done because it made me feel good, no matter who got hurt in the process.

I am thankful for his love and grace, but it doesn’t seem like a good idea to presume upon it.

You may not agree with me that God exists and he has something to say about how we live our lives. That’s between you and him. But I do have an obligation to tell you, and I’ve done my part."

the story about the swedish woman made me almost physically ill... that poor poor deluded woman. how she will regret her actions some day. and my heart breaks for her children- how dreadful it would be to know that your mother would have aborted you if you had the misfortune to be the third or fourth child conceived instead of the first or second.

what a sad place this world can be.

This brought to mind T4 that was not but 70 years ago. I may be mistaken but I understand Abortion clinics dont even come up to the same medical standards of emergency clinics etc. Is that true? So much for caring about women if it is true.

I fully agree. We look back at many of the practices in antiquity with questioned disbelief; but the infanticide of abortion is just as barbaric, cruel, murderous and evil.

No matter how severe our leaders disappoint or fail to uphold that which is honorable, that principle must never cease to be practiced among God's people.

Thank you my brother. Good word.

Phil Keaggy has a powerful song against abortion and it was put to video. It is way past time to call our Liberal brothers and sisters in Christ to repent of their claim to be pro-choice and their support of those who are, this is the moral equivalent of being pro-human sacrifice by those idolaters in the Old Testament. Every single argument that pro-choice Christians make could be applied to tolerating child sacrifice to the idols of Israel's day. Moloch is back and in our midst.

Thanks for the video of Keaggy BC Todd. Good witness for the Gospel, and against abortion.

May we all be blessed by our Lord this Lord's day, so that we can serve and love one another in Christ.
