Has the United States of America been abandoned by God?

A Nation Abandoned by God
by
John MacArthur

"Now I’m going to say something, you’re going to have to hold on to your seat a little bit. I’m convinced beyond doubt that in this same sense, God has abandoned America. I know that’s a strong thing to say and I’m going to show you why I believe you can see that clearly in Scripture."

Is John MacArthur correct?

Will God give America over to Barak Obama? The Republican Government haven't done all that much regarding abortion have they? They certainly have had plenty of time to do something about it haven't they? And it is still going on isn't it?

I think America is in for some really tough times ahead.

You may not want Mr. Obama as President but what does God want? Will God give you what you don't want? Judgment? There are a lot of white people in America who hate Mr. Obama, maybe someone will murder him? There's been threats on his life already hasn't there? Christians should seriously pray for Mr. Obama, maybe God is going to raise him up for such troubled times as these? Maybe God wants Barak Obama as President of the United States? Obamanation?

God doesn't deal with nations per se in the New Testament, in fact the word nation is "ethnos" meaning people groups. God deals with sinners, the church, individual believers, and as I believe Israel in some way.

America was formed as pluralistic and the founding fathers were not all believers. Washington desired to remain tethered to England, however Lexington and Concord forced his hand. But there is absolutely no New Testament justification for the church to use violence against its government regardless how unfair they are treated.

We are rightly offened by abortion, but this nation murderd many thousand disobedient slaves as well as tens of thousand died through crule treatment in the slave ships.

Per my conscience I do not participate in elections, however of Obama is elected we are to show him honor and pray for him regardless of his immoral policies. His economic policies are immaterial, this economy is not our source. But abortion, gay marriage, and other moral issues are serious representations not just concerning the sinfulness of sinners, but more importantly the worldliness and impotence of the church in America.

It is time for us as believers to take our eyes off Washington and fix them upon our Lord in repentance, love, and constant prayer.

Douglas (Please show us who you are!)

You said;

'There are a lot of white people in America who hate Mr. Obama, maybe someone will murder him?'

I hate to tell you this but there are probably just as many black people, perhaps even more than white folks, that hate Obama. As for a white person murdering Barrack, statistically speaking the incidence of black upon black crime is much higher than white upon black. So, it is more likely that someone black would do such a heinous and stupid thing against him!
Now, all that garbage aside, it is God who will determine the one that will sit in the office of president and if it is to the judgment or destruction of this nation then I guarantee you that it will all be under the sovereign hand of the living God in Jesus Christ, His enemies will be as a footstool under his feet. I pray for our leaders and that God would give them His wisdom to make their decisions. The bottom line is, however, that what the people of this nation are in need of is Jesus Christ alone and true salvation through Him alone! Here is the proposition to Barrack, McCain and the rest of the good old U.S.of A., Repent or be subject to eternal separation from Him in everlasting darkness.

There are more than just the Republicans and the Democrats.

There is a good candidate in Chuck Baldwin.

Yet, the media gives no airtime to him.

I sincerely wonder when Christians will wake up. May God have mercy on us all.

Louis Farrakhan pronounced Barack the Messiah back in February, so it must be so....

"You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn't care anything about. That's a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking." ---Louis Farrakhan, Feb. 2008

There's so much evidence about this guy. It really doesn'y matter though, does it to those who are going to vote for him.

He is a nice guy, but at the same time he is an evil man, because he wants to keep a law that legally allows a baby to simply die, without any problem. Not to mention partial-birth abortion, which is such a horrible way of killing babies, many liberals in Congress changed their minds when they saw the procedure. But not Obama, nor the Clintons. Though Hillary did vote for the keep alive act.

Abortion is not that big a deal to people.
For me it is the number one issue. That's just the way I'm wired, and also I believe the way one sees the killing of babies says a lot about that person; more than we might think.

Thanks for the good post Steve.

We need to keep the truth out there, though the world hates it, and will run to the darkness, when the light shines.

In all honesty I have to disagree with you Steve. To bring up the Obama-Ayers link when it has been shown that it was only a passing acquaintanceship. Is sad I could very easily ask what about Sarah Palin and her links to an Alaskan Secessionist party? In short while the pro-life cause is important don’t allow your vision to become so monochromatic on one issue that you forget the whole spectrum of issues. Also remember that church government is not the same as secular government when you elect an official for public office it is not the same as electing a church deacon.

"..don’t allow your vision to become so monochromatic on one issue that you forget the whole spectrum of issues."

I can't count the number of times people say this to me. And they will say the election isn't a "one Issue" election.

I know that; I really really do.

But killing innocent babies and making it legal is my numero uno issue, as I said.

I would suggest if abortion isn't your first issue, then perhaps you need to pray to the Lord, and see what he says about that.

McCain, who is such a weak candidate in my thinking, has said, "I will work to overturn Roe vs. Wade".

I would love to see that happen, and it may well, with Palin in the Whitehouse as well.

Think of that! We go back to 1973, and abortion is illegal once again. That would say a lot about a nation in this world.

Not that America is the Church, but there are nations that are evil, and that are not as evil.

His buddy Ayers simply magnifies his socialism heart.

LG, if Farrakhan told me my name was Carla, that I lived in Canada and had curly hair...

I'd still call my mom for verification, check the map and look again in the mirror. It is just incredible to me that America is in the position it is and that it's even a possibility this man Obama is so adored by so many, and may occupy the White House. GACK seems like a monumental understatement.

Yet, our God is in control of this matter as well.

The problem is Obama hasn't been truthful with the American public on what he really believes, his associations and what he stands for. He is trying to posture himself as a centrist, but is very liberal even beyond Kennedy, Clinton, Kerry, etc.

He lacks the experience and wisdom to lead this nation. BUT, if he does get elected - maybe this will be used as God's judgment on our nation?

Be praying,
Steve

Carla, I hear you. BTW, I should HT local Steve Gill for the video link.

Campi:"He lacks the experience and wisdom to lead this nation..."

This leads me to my nominee for "quote of the day," or, "out of the mouth of babes"...from my son Austin, last night (in utter disbelief):

"You shouldn't run for President if you don't even know how many states are in America!"

And people still speak as if there are only two candidates.

Turn off the t.v. people. Seek other news sources. There really are other, viable candidates.

God bless.

manimuti,
By viable candidates do you mean candidates who are capable of surviving without the help of life support?

Or do you mean candidates that have a shot at being elected?

If the latter, you really need to clue in to reality.

A vote for a third party candidate is, whether you like it or not, a vote for Obama and his baby killing ideology.

Littlegal,

Obama must actually think there are sixty states. Here's his exact quote:

Obama: "Over the last fifteen months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states, I think — one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii I was not allowed to go to … my staff could not justify it."

It has been said that there are 57 Islamic states. Maybe that's what he was thinking of.

What's really troubling is that, not only did he not catch himself making a mistake while saying it, but I have never heard him correct himself since.

Oh, well. As Obama would say, "Just words...."

The reality is that people are duped into thinking that only a Republican or a Democrat will be successfully elected. And therein lies the dilemma. Or 'self-fulfilling' prophesy ---- at least for those who believe that and act accordingly.

Unless people are willing to break away from the mainstream 'media' and think for themselves, instead of forming their opinions around the pre-packaged rubbish they are barraged with, then, of course, these other candidates don't have a hope of becoming elected.

It's absurd to say alternative candidates would need 'life support'. Where on earth does that thinking come from?

One can only hope for a candidate whose a member of one of the two parties or 'they haven't a hope of being elected'?

Only if the masses say so!
So say you?

Not me.

There is a grass-roots movement that is gaining in strength. Thank the Lord Jesus.

When will people become fed up with the crimes that are being committed in violation of our constitution? Or what's left of it.

Many are caught up in their busy lives, in their comfy existence (love of money). That in itself is very telling. And they think that *they* won't be affected by the assault on the rule of law. Or the erosion of due process. Or turn a blind eye to the slow chipping away of their remaining freedoms. And sadly, many people have no clue these things are happening, because theses things are happening subtly/insidiously. And if someone scratches the surface and brings it to light - they squirm uncomfortably; then go back to sticking their head in the sand. Some people aren't taking an interest because it doesn't *directly* impact them. Others simply aren't awake, or they rely on mainstream news sources. To many, the reality is too unpleasant to contemplate.

Sadly, many Christians are guilty.

What's happening is subtle and insidious. Unless people wake up, and use their votes, contact their Representatives & Congressmen (hold them accountable for their 'representation') - then America hasn't a hope of retaining her Sovereignty. The NAU is upon us. Why do you think the borders have been so relaxed? There is a goal.

You ask ANY survivor of the holocaust what went on in Germany, prior to the [undeniable] horrors started taking place, and by then it was too late for people to stand up. Those horrors didn't take place overnight. There was a plan. The people were conditioned. Successfully.

Look at history my friend. Look how Stalin accomplished his plans. Mussolini patterned his plans on Stalin. Then Hitler followed suit. They used a very simple formula. And they banked/preyed on the predictable desires of man.

The people in power now, in our once Godly country, are exacting those some steps to take apart our Republic.

And you can be sure we are on the precipice of -- dare I say it? Fascism.

That sounds radical? Unthinkable in our great country?

Unless people are willing to vet what's going on right under their noses - and see the clear patterns that have taken place and continue to take place as I type this --- things will continue on their present course.

Don't believe *me*.
Check out the history for yourself.
Pray to the Lord to open your eyes. Don't take offence -- ask the Lord to open your eyes and see what HE wants you to see.

I live abroad now, and I can promise you, the news you receive there is nothing remotely like the news we get abroad. Many many Europeans sit, scratching their heads, while watching all the 'frogs being brought to the boil'. They can't fathom how single minded Americans have become.

Recently I have wondered if the Lord has allowed a deluding spirit to overcome many at home, as is stated in Matthew 24 (and 2 Thessalonians).

Matthew 24:24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible.

2 Thess 2:10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

This election has brought out the worst in people including believers who have shown much more judgment than redemption. On many levels it has more profoundly revealed things about us rather than the ones we seek to define. The election of 2008 is a study in how to ckoke out the gospel with the smoke of political hatred.

In the end, it just might be that Obama was nothing more than a lost sinner who made something of himself and was very liberal on social issues. That would be in stark contrast to the different sinister caricatures that many have painted him with. And, of course, only God knows the heart contrary to even many in the church who speak as if they know their own, much less his.

Obama has my admiration for his industriousness and my spiritual compassion and intercession as I do not believe he is a believer. That should be our primary concern because what shall it profit a man if he comes from poverty, graduates from an Ivy League school, does community service, and gets elected President of the United States and loses his own soul.

Sarcasm isn't helpful. Nor is the smug dismissal of the real issues that are taking place.

I've said my peace, brother, respectfully. May the Lord open your eyes, and continue to show me what HE wants me to see, and give me the courage to say what HE wishes me to say.

God bless.
