DEBATE PREP
...mind your vote

Questions McCain Should Ask Obama

1. Are you prepared to fire SEC Chairman Chris Cox for his share of the burden for the demise of Wall Street that has impacted us all on main street?

2. Will you call for the resignations of Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd for their misconduct surrounding Fannie/Freddie?

3. Will you repudiate William Ayers and all alliances current or past with him and call him out on his efforts to undermine the security of our nation; and then call for him to publicly repent of his terrorist activity from the past?

4. As a professing Christian in the Lord Jesus Christ, how can you support any legislation and/or practice that takes the lives of unborn children at any stage in their development as a human being? Will you know repudiate the barbaric practice of partial birth abortion and the infanticide of live abortion that you have supported in the past?

5. Will you reject any and all ties to ACORN and call for a nationwide investigation of their fraudulent conduct of voter registration?

6. Will you return all PAC money you have received from the lobbyists for Fannie/Freddie?

7. Will you permanently sever all ties to Rev. Wright and his views; to Louis Farrakhan and his views; and from Franklin Raines and his political and economic connections?

8. Why didn't you work with the Republicans in the Senate to pass legislation concerning the danger of sub-prime mortgages instead of simply writing a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury? Did you vote "present" again?

9. Will you undeniably pledge full support of Israel?

10. Will you release your records from Harvard Law when you served there and submit yourself to careful scrutiny as to their contents?

11. How will you protect the borders of the U.S. from further immigration violations; and work toward deportation of all illegal immigrants currently residing in the U.S. in sanctuary cities that are in violation of the law?

You're asking the wrong question about Ayers. We've been asking the wrong question and making the wrong emphasis all along.

The question is: Do you now repudiate Ayers' treatment of the current ongoing politics of education as the spark-point for revolution, including his admiration for Hugo Chavez?

Do you repudiate or echo Ayers' "support for ‘the political educational reforms under way in Venezuela under the leadership of President Chavez."

Do you share Ayers' belief that "education is the motor-force of revolution"

Do you, along with Ayers, "look forward to seeing how all of you continue to overcome the failures of capitalist education as you seek to create something truly new and deeply humane.”

Quotes are from the "World Education Forum", 2006 and quoted from Bill Ayers' blog

The socialism of today is more pressing than the high passions of past era. I condemn terrorism. PERIOD. But the socialism of tomorrow is more pressing than the crimes of yesterday.

Questions we should ask McCain:

* If you believe abortion is murder, why haven't you submitted even one piece of legislation to ban it, the same number Barney Frank submitted?

* What gives a man who divorced his wife and married his mistress the high moral ground?

* Is it true that even among your friends you sometimes lose your temper and demean them with caustic and inappropriate scatalogical language?

* If Obama should admit the surge worked, will you admit that everything we were told going in was wrong? (WMDs, greeted as liberators, oil would pay for war, etc)

* Besides being the governor of a state whose population is less than Columbus, Ohio, what real experience does Palin have especially since you used to question Obama's experience?

* Why do you tout Palin's ability to generate excitement among people and draw large crowds, and yet you criticized Obama for the same thing even comparing him to Britney Spears?

* Does it bother you that most Americans care more about the World Series than Bill Ayers, and that your campaign doesn't seem to have the political sophistication to realize that?

I am going to miss the election when it is over, it is great political theatre without the $8.00ticket. I have no preference, however I have noticed McCain looks like William McKinley in the wax museum and Obama reminds me of Curious George. :)

I'll answer these for Obama:

1. Are you prepared to fire SEC Chairman Chris Cox for his share of the burden for the demise of Wall Street that has impacted us all on main street?

No, I can't.

2. Will you call for the resignations of Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd for their misconduct surrounding Fannie/Freddie?

No, I can't.

3. Will you repudiate William Ayers and all alliances current or past with him and call him out on his efforts to undermine the security of our nation; and then call for him to publicly repent of his terrorist activity from the past?

No, I can't.

4. As a professing Christian in the Lord Jesus Christ, how can you support any legislation and/or practice that takes the lives of unborn children at any stage in their development as a human being?

I'm a "professing" Christian.

Will you now repudiate the barbaric practice of partial birth abortion and the infanticide of live abortion that you have supported in the past?

No, I can't.

5. Will you reject any and all ties to ACORN and call for a nationwide investigation of their fraudulent conduct of voter registration?

No, I can't. (I'd be investigating me.)

6. Will you return all PAC money you have received from the lobbyists for Fannie/Freddie?

No, I can't.

7. Will you permanently sever all ties to Rev. Wright and his views; to Louis Farrakhan and his views; and from Franklin Raines and his political and economic connections?

No, I can't. (I can no more sever ties with them than I can with my white grandmother.)

8. Why didn't you work with the Republicans in the Senate to pass legislation concerning the danger of sub-prime mortgages instead of simply writing a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury?

You didn't mention the middle class.

Did you vote "present" again?

I was 8 years old at the time.

9. Will you undeniably pledge full support of Israel?

Nope...I mean, 'No, I can't'.

10. Will you release your records from Harvard Law when you served there and submit yourself to careful scrutiny as to their contents?

No, I can't.

11. How will you protect the borders of the U.S. from further immigration violations; and work toward deportation of all illegal immigrants currently residing in the U.S. in sanctuary cities that are in violation of the law?

We can hope. That's change we can believe in.

The end.

Ellen,

I just saw your comment. I had just posted similar comments on Steve's latest post "And The Clear Winner Is..." after the debate.

I hope that this issue of radical "education reform" takes hold during the last three weeks of the campaign. I think it is a winning issue, even more than the tax cut/spending freeze issue.

Let's pray that Sen. McCain will address this issue and articulate it clearly.

Rick,

I'm not sure if you want a serious answer to any of your questions since you "have no preference" as to who wins, which makes me wonder why you are asking all these questions. But I thought I would try to answer them for you anyway:

Questions we should ask McCain:

1. * If you believe abortion is murder, why haven't you submitted even one piece of legislation to ban it, the same number Barney Frank submitted?

Because you can't. Roe v. Wade has become the law of the land, unconstitutionally, thanks to our rogue Supreme Court legislating from the bench, instead of only interpreting law.

McCain, however, did vote against partial birth abortion.

That is one of the most important reasons to vote for McCain. Because if Obama wins, we can count on a Liberal Supreme Court for the next 30-40 years.

Meanwhile, we need to go and convert souls and change hearts. Isn't that where it should really start? With changing the heart?

2. * What gives a man who divorced his wife and married his mistress the high moral ground?

The forgiveness of God. McCain said that he was saved, and that his divorce was his biggest moral failure.

3. * Is it true that even among your friends you sometimes lose your temper and demean them with caustic and inappropriate scatalogical language?

We all have besetting sins, don't we? Are any of us perfect? The Scriptures say that we all fall short of the glory of God.

4. * If Obama should admit the surge worked, will you admit that everything we were told going in was wrong? (WMDs, greeted as liberators, oil would pay for war, etc)

When Clinton was President, it was okay to be in Iraq, if you remember. And Mrs. Clinton, as Senator, said that we must get Saddam Hussein.

The biggest mistake is how the Democrats have politicized this war. It cost us a lot of soldiers' lives and the lives of the people of Iraq, and elsewhere.

And politicizing it prolonged the war.

And since the Democrats want to put a price tag on national security, yes, it even cost more by politicizing it.

And the only way Obama would want to win the war is if a Democrat were the President. The Democrats have done everything they possibly could to secure defeat in Iraq instead of trying to have victory. They would have never done this to a Democrat President.

5. * Besides being the governor of a state whose population is less than Columbus, Ohio, what real experience does Palin have especially since you used to question Obama's experience?

I heard Dick Morris say recently that Bill Clinton as Governor of Arkansas had absolutely no foreign policy experience when he became President.

And Joe Biden, Senator of tiny little Delaware is next in line if he should become V.P.

And not only has Biden been wrong on countless foreign policy issues, but he appears to be a pathological liar. He lied at least 14 times in the debate with Sarah Palin.

He even said that we should check out the restaurant he always goes to and ask them about something or other. It turns out that the restaurant he mentioned by name went out of business about 20 years ago or so. So, Joe Biden lies just for the fun of it sometimes. And if you ask me, that's really scary.

And as for Obama himself, we know that he has no executive experience and no foreign policy experience.

When it comes to being Governor of a state, it's the experience and the responsiblity that comes with it that matters. Governor Palin has executive experience, and knows a lot about energy (an extremely important issue in this campaign), which makes her the most experienced one of the four who are in this race.

6. * Why do you tout Palin's ability to generate excitement among people and draw large crowds, and yet you criticized Obama for the same thing even comparing him to Britney Spears?

Because Palin didn't have to put on theatrics and set up props to generate excitement. It is what she believes in that draws the large crowds.

Obama had his fake presidential seal, and his temple columns (after the Britney Spears comment, he actually went out and hired someone from her support company to set up the stage with the columns!), and he has his charisma and charm. But Palin has the issues that the Conservatives are looking for that they want to have represented.

When people are asked why they are voting for Obama, invariably they seem to have no real reason to give. They usually don't even know what he stands for.

7. * Does it bother you that most Americans care more about the World Series than Bill Ayers, and that your campaign doesn't seem to have the political sophistication to realize that?

It bothers me. History may be doomed to repeat itself if people have forgotten about 9/11 already. Bill Ayers is a sophisticated terrorist. He has gone from bombing our government buildings to quietly reforming our educational system with an anti-American, anti-Capitalist, pro-Socialist/Marxist, social activist agenda.

I thought education was a number one issue with voters. It's a number one issue with terrorist Bill Ayers. I think they should know, don't you?

8. I am going to miss the election when it is over, it is great political theatre without the $8.00ticket. I have no preference, however I have noticed McCain looks like William McKinley in the wax museum and Obama reminds me of Curious George. :)

I can't disagree with you there. :)

Why oh why are Christians supporting the pro-UN, pro-globalist, pro-Amnesty/illegal alien supporting McCain? When will we wake up to see the corruption that comes unto us as an angel of light? When will we stop playing along with the Hegelian dialectic of Republican vs. Democrat and realize that both parties are anti-Constitution and anti-Christ and working to destroy this nation from the inside out?

It is tragic too because before Palin stepped onto the stage most voices were against McCain. But once Sarah arrived "strongly" held convictions were quickly cast aside as Christians fell over themselves fawning for Sarah "the barracuda" Palin.

I seriously doubt that anything will change re. abortion if McCain is elected. Bush had eight years with 2000 - 2006 being totally under the control of the GOP. Did anything change? No. Abortion remains unchanged.

Aside from this and totally off the radar for most Christians is that GWB and the Republicans have done more to destroy liberty and trample the Constitution under foot than any other President in the history of this nation.

Here, we are on the verge of becoming a fascist police state with the federal govt. controlling the private sector of banking, mortgages, possibly auto industry yet the cheers continue to go up for the GOP. Listen to Noami Wolf which I hope shocks some into waking up to the times. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjALf12PAWc [FYI - America is, eh, was a Constitutional Republic not a democracy].

stmcgarret, interesting link about McCain and abortion. Roe v Wade will never be overturned. Oh and by the way, should McCain become elected, our country will continue to spend 10 billion dollars a month on the "war" and we'll continue to see young men come home in body bags. How's that for pro-life? Not to mention he's of the type that would start a war with "KGB" Putin and Russia. Great.

I honestly dont think McCain is all that much better than Obama. If I vote I'll probably go independent this go-round. Ultimately it doesnt matter, all things considered. For me, I'll keep focused on the one true King, the Name above all names, and the Word. Dont let all of this political hoopla devour you. God is in control, remember that. That's where our peace is at. Whoever is elected, the Cross remains unchanged and Christ remains Lord. It "has" been finished. Obama, Mccain..so what.

stmcgarret said...

glip - Amen. Excellent point re. the soldiers and body bags. Forgotten also are the tens of thousands of innocents (i.e. collateral damage) killed and maimed in this illegal and unconstitutional war (http://www.iraqbodycount.org/). Or the myriad others being tortured and imprisoned in far away lands simply because they are male and Islamic.

Nor should we forget the pitiful and woeful uranium babies thanks to our depleted uranium waste. Just do a search and it will break your heart.

You are right in that our eyes must be on Christ and his finished work. But we also are commanded to be alert and watch so that we are not deceived whereby the Lord said even the very elect would be deceived if it were possible. And we are likewise to speak out against evil and not sanction, support or white-wash those who are responsible for such atrocities (whether Democratic OR Republican). Instead, we are told to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather reprove them.

This is what we need to do and to truly take the high moral ground which is above both Obama and McCain.

And yes, I agree in not getting caught up in the political circus and I can assure you I am not. I don't even have a telly but post simply to challenge the view amongst so many evangelicals that McCain is the right choice and a good man who has the Nation's interest at heart. This is a crafted lie by the PTB exactly as they did so well with GWB which so many Christians swallowed hook, line and sinker.

Blessings

stmcgarrett,

1. You wrote, "Why oh why are Christians supporting the pro-UN, pro-globalist, pro-Amnesty/illegal alien supporting McCain?"

That implies that McCain's opponent is NOT pro-UN, pro-globalist, pro-Amnesty/illegal alien, which is not true.

That's what you call "spin".

Unless you advocate wasting your vote on a third-party candidate, or staying home on Election Day (same effect), you only have two viable choices.

2. McCain is far from perfect, but almost any complaint we might have with McCain is vastly magnified in Obama.

To make policy complaints about McCain, for which Obama is even worse...

is spin.

3. For example, it's absurd to compare McCain with Obama re abortion, for three reasons:

a. If Obama were elected, we would likely have 3 or 4 more DECADES of a Pro-Abortion Liberal Supreme Court (Obama can't stand Scalia or Thomas, but *strongly* favors abortion rights). With McCain there is a real likelihood of a couple more "strict constructionists" who could indeed overturn Roe v Wade.

b. It's not true that McCain did nothing against abortion. That's spin. He voted for the bill bannig partial-birth abortion. Hundreds of babies have been saved from this barbarism. Obama would have delighted in rejecting the bill.

c. It's spin to blame McCain for not passing Ron Paul's "Sanctity of Life" bill. The bill was a HOUSE bill that never even came out of "committee" for a vote in the House of Representatives, let alone the SENATE, where McCain serves.

Even still, a Liberal activist Supreme Court would likely have declared it "unconstitutional", albeit wrongly.

McCain may not be as fully pro-life as you or me, but the alternative is Obama, whom we can guarantee would *fight* for abortions all the way to birth.

He even voted against a bill requiring medical attention for a baby born after a botched abortion. So they just set such babies off to the side after they're born, until they die. That's infanticide.

4. When you say, "we are on the verge of becoming a fascist police state", you are using more spin (or you haven't studied *real* fascist police states).

Of course we should be vigilant, and things can change rapidly. But we don't have to get "caught up in the political circus", as you put it, in order to seek the wisdom of God in making a decision between two Presidential candidates.

Neither McCain nor Obama is the Messiah.

But I believe voting for Obama (or staying home) woud be foolish in the extreme.

Some capsulized reasons can be found at www.DangerousObama.com.

Blessings,
Terry

Terry - Wasting a vote? That rhetoric is so overused and comes straight from the media establishment to keep people from doing the right thing. Let me ask you this, if every Christian voted for a principled and Constitutional advocate like Chuck Baldwin or Ron Paul (I realize he is not running) do you think it would be wasting a vote?

Secondly, is it wasting a vote to do the right thing? To refuse to select either of two evils presented to us by the same establishment? FYI: this same line was used with Bush and nothing changed regarding abortion.

Plus, why do so many Christians believe voting for McCain is the right thing to do? No where in Scriptures are we told to accept the lesser of two evils. This is compromise which God hates. Compromise which is so willing to point out and decry the sin in the other guy (i.e. Obama) but fails to apply the same standard to their own candidate (McCain). It is the same with Bush; if a liberal burned all the money he has and engaged in the war as he has sanctioning torture, Republicans would be screaming their heads off, but since he is one of "their" guys hardly a word is said.

No, it is NOT spin to point out valid and legitimate complaints against McCain. That is one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever heard. I am not speaking to Obama because he is not the one evangelicals are fawning over. I am addressing McCain and his issues which evangelicals so conveniently white-wash or ignore because they are so focused on the brass ring of the White House as if this will solve our Nation's problems.

You think we are not becoming a police state. Spin, no, it is not. You ever hear of "free speech" zones, or wiretapping without warrent (FISA), or TSA watch lists, or email/mail being search w/o warrant (telecom immunity)? You ever walk the streets of New York with stormtroopers in the subways and streets with AR-15's held at ready? How about the militarizing of our police force and the joint exercises between military and the "civilian" police force? What about Posse Comitatus? What about the government taking control of the private sector. Etc., etc. This is not spin but reality.

As I said, the lesser of two evils is still evil and nothing will change with McCain. That is, nothing for the better where we return to the Constitution (hah, ever hear McCain even mention that?) No, I'm sorry but the problems in this nation have nothing to do with who is in the White House. Our problems are spiritual and rest at the doorstep of the church and unless she repent this nation will continue to run pell-mell into becoming a third-world nation.

stmcgarret said...

Re. spin and "police state", please read this from Ron Paul to see how "free" we are in America and decide if this is in fact "spin." I pray we wake up to the times.
