In the last 2 or 3 years, this has become my favorite Christmas song....(second is "O Holy Night.") This version is especially moving....thanks for posting.
I just took a break from baking, cooking & cleaning to get ready for our big family dinner tomorrow - and sat down here to hear this. I love this song, and this was a really nice version. Thanks for posting this, Steve.
Speaking of Christmas music, Bob Bennett has just posted a new song on his website: http://www.bob-bennett.com . It's available for free download under the "Song of the Month" link at upper left. He calls it a 'demo recording,' but it sounds as good to me as any of the fully produced songs on his recent albums.
Back to Sufjan Stevens - he also did a recording of "Holy, Holy, Holy" that is just marvelous. It was also available for free at one time.

ReplyDeleteI agree. It is down-home and unvarnished. I love the simplicity of it and therefore the venerability of it as well.
ReplyDeleteVery powerful.
Campi
Campi, you're a Sufjan fan? Cool.
