SERVANTS WITH SCARS
...being made fit for further ministry

"Every wise workman takes his tools away from the work from time to time that they may be ground and sharpened; so does the only-wise Jehovah take his ministers oftentimes away into darkness and loneliness and trouble, that he may sharpen and prepare them for harder work in his service." -ROBERT MURRAY MCCHEYENE

Darkness and trouble is difficult but loneliness is the killer for me!

Understand.

Sometimes the two go hand in hand when the waves of trial and tribulation flood over us. I think of Spurgeon who was maligned and abandoned during the down-grade controversy by his own brother who voted against him and sided with those Spurgeon was exhorting.

This was a tremendous heartbreak for him that drove him to severe depression and seclusion.

I think we all can relate to Spurgeon... The ones that end up hurting us the most are those closest to us who for ulterior motives try to undercut the biblical convictions of ministry we may each have by God's mercy and leading.

Thank you for your honesty...
