MIND YOUR FAITH
...thinking can beneficial to your spiritual health

I really like to see people in their wheelhouse, using their gifts and abilities for the Lord and His glory. Such is the case today.

Both of these quotes below come from a really great blog called: Rambling Rosemarie. As you know, there is so much tripe in the blogosphere these days, that it is rare to find a site dedicated to substance based upon biblical truth and sound doctrine that is still plugged into the issues we are facing in the culture today. This is one of those great sites worthy of your time and I highly commend it to you.

Psalm 119:160

"There's a lot of information out here on the superhighway. Some of it isn't worth the powder it would take to blow it back to hell.

Knowledge is power when you have the ability to think critically and when you have a standard by which to measure the veracity of the knowledge. What's my point? Being childlike in our faith doesn't mean checking our brains at the door. Avoiding works based salvation and faith doesn't mean you stop striving for obedience. Critical thinking is hard work and we as believers are not doing enough of it... Make certain what you know can be measured and is true, even the experts in your life can be wrong." - Rosemarie

"One of the greatest obstacles encountered in a teaching ministry is this idea, pervasive in the Christian Church, that there is no benefit to be had by the laity in serious study of the Word of God or in the study of theology. We have elevated to the level of an ideal, the idea of having a simple childlike faith... There is a close connection between simplicity and naivete. Believers who have not been deeply trained and matured in the things of God, are vulnerable and exposed to every wind of doctrine that blows through the Church... We are exposed to them because we simply do not have a mature understanding of the truth of God." - R.C. Sproul

Amen! Too often we act as if Romasn 12:1-2 actually says that we are to be transformed by the REMOVAL of our minds!

Doing a word search on "simple" brings up some interesting things. Being simple is contrasted with being wise frequently. I noticed that "simple" is also "naive" in some translations. I've heard people say they are just "simple people" which basically meant they weren't interested in doctrine, study, etc. They prided themselves on their ability to just love Jesus and not worry about "all that stuff." Proverbs 14:15 says, "The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going."

Excellent! Being a Berean means that we will "mind our faith" to see "if these things were so." IOW, we should examine anything and everything someone is saying in the name of the Lord to see if it fully agrees with Scripture. This is the duty of every Christian.

Amen?

Begin this Sunday with what your pastor is teaching. It will bless him that you care enough to do so.

Steve,
It all comes clear to me now... I couldn't understand why my blog was suddenly being read by more than three people. I humbly thank you for the kind words.

O, this is rich, absolutely splendid. Campi, this belongs right up there in the quote box with Carla's twilight zone word redefinition blurb on another thread.

josephmcbee, in today's current climate, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if someone managed to pretzel a word study/connection proclaiming just that ... ;-)

Ps. 119: 4

"You have ordained Your precepts that we should keep them diligently."

In a day there are 96 15 minute intervals. It amazes me that so many that I know consider that approximately 1% or 15 minutes of their day spent in the study of God's word is enough.
We are in such perilous times and they are are becoming more perilous on a daily basis. It is my prayer that those that I teach as well as the rest of the body of Christ understand that the Word of God is truly their spiritual food and that apart from it they spiritually wither away.
