UPDATED:
Here is The Born Alive Infant Protection Act that Barry Hussein Obama opposed. This just isn't a matter of a difference of opinion on public policy; this is the degenerate, depraved, deep-seated beliefs of an unprincipled man. This is barbarism.
Consider this as you consider this:
For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.
-Psalm 139:13-16

Steve,
Get ready! The arguments about 'social justice' and 'social programs' are about to come. It will go something like, 'If there was less poverty there would be less abortion. Deal with poverty and you will deal with abortion.'
What a stretch that is! I have heard this argument too many times and it makes me sick because it ignores the fact that not only 'poor people' are having abortions but many upper middle class people are as well.
NOTHING will be gained by Christians being fuzzy on this issue. Abortion is the killing of an unborn child. PERIOD. No legislation or argument deals with this and there is no gain for the Gospel if we subvert this truth.
The message of the Gospel is that man is sinful and we do sinful things (like killing babies) but we have a great Savior that has paid for our sin. When we obscure and subvert what sin is we lose sight of the Gospel, no ifs and or buts about it!
And before anyone else says it. Yes, gluttony, war, and a list of other sins are sins as well. They are all sins in the eyes of God but this great sin causes the loss of a child's life that has no voice. So forget about the moral equivalence thing, ok?
THANK YOU!! Somebody needed to say that. God bless you, Steve.
AMEN brother...let us not judge a candidate by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character!
Steve,
Thank you for your razor sharp clarity on life, the universe, and everything. Your blog is an oasys of Biblical sanity amongst the liberal, emergent blogs I read every day. May the Lord continue to capture your heart to be further convinced of the Gospel.
Sadly, Hayden is right. hyphenated forms of justice are the idol of the moment, and real justice, as Scripture defines it, is forgotten or ignored.
May God deal with us according to His mercy, rather than according to our sin, thought He has every right to deal with our sin.
Paul
Hayden
Obviously a vote for the ungodly, McCain included, is a vote for ungodly policy, the door on Obama was shut long ago for my vote because I see both main candidates as ungodly men. Moral equivalency is irrelevant because, as you said, sin is sin. However, there are degrees of evil and sin and that should be taken into account, like willingly promoting the slaughter of the innocent!
When it comes to character it is the same, the ungodly can only exhibit ungodly character!
The bottom line is that God will have the man of His choosing in the office of President and we need to pray and vote with that in mind. He is sovereign in the rise and fall of nations and their governments, He is God!
Imagine that you elect a man to lead a powerful nation that is deeply in debt. Imagine that the new government program that provided universal health care to all of your citizens is a contributor to that problem. Imagine that the population is aging and that many of the aged are also poor and alone.
This man you elected shows that he doesn't value life by supporting planned parenthood, abortion, partial birth abortion and even infanticide.
Would it be surprising to see a man such as this ration gov't provided health care to productive tax paying citizens at the expense of the elderly, non revenue producing citizens?
It seems that too many are hearing him say that he is a "Christian" and not many of our fellow citizens are thinking about the practical applications of his voting record as a senator.
Mr Obama has a more liberal voting record than Senator Sanders who describes himself as a democratic socialist.
I've always wondered if abortion was the same thing as what these verses say, a sacrifice to an idol-such as ourselves?
Lev 18:21-
You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD
Deu 12:31-
You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way, for every abominable thing that the LORD hates they have done for their gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods
Jer 19:4-5-
Because the people have forsaken me and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents, and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into my mind
These children weren't aborted, but they were sacrificed and aren't we also sacrificing our children with abortion? The reasons are selfish--inconvenience, unwanted, a method of birth-control, etc. They are being sacrificed for our own "gods" of selfishness. Wasn't Israel punished for doing this to their children? What makes us think we won't be judged and punished for this? We kill our helpless unborn and even more nowadays, we kill our helpless born! For what? For our own "gods" that we worship, which most of the time is ourselves.
And as for Mr. Obama's statement that he wouldn't want his daughters to be punished with a baby for their mistake--So this means the baby should be punished? So they shouldn't face the consequences of their sin? So instead of teaching our children to wait until marriage you just give them the go-ahead to have an abortion if they don't want to wait?
I can't understand how someone could willfully destroy so precious a gift from God as their child. We are totally depraved as a nation for allowing this to happen. And I don't think we're going to get away with it either.
In Him,
Karen
In 8 years President Bush did not introduce one bill to outlaw abortion. The same number as President Clinton and the same number as either McCain or Obama will introduce.
We act shocked when a lost man speaks his truth. God raises up who He desires, regardless of our narcissistic view of politics. Do we really desire to stop abortion? Preach the gospel.
Our brothers and sisters in China are consumed with prayer and the gospel, not the millions of abortions in China because they have no voice in the government. The reality is, neither do we, but we continue to claim that mirage as a conscience salve so we do not actually see our spiritually bankrupt state.
Does it not say something that what this man is saying is, I would kill my own grand child , so as not to make my daughter accountable to her actions.
Lets also be realistic , while we live in a fallen world , babies out of wedlock will occur , sin is and always will be a reality till the Lord comes but may we as Christians offer the grace and mercy to these bruised reeds , proclaiming the gospel without flinching but remembering we are sinners too , in need of God's grace.
Killing unborn children is one of the most disgusting legacies of the last century that seems to have no end in sight. May we grow to hate this practice but reach out to women in crisis.
Rick,
I agree with you partially. we definitely should not put our trust in men or government. That does not mean that we should be silent on this issue either. We should point out sin, like abortion, or else who will? It will just become an 'operation' or 'procedure'.
I put no trust in the president to outlaw something that people see as a 'choice'. I do think that we as a 'community' are doing some good work. Look at all of the crisis pregnancy centers that are cropping up and the outcry from the abortion providers when they hear that women are choosing to keep their children when they have a sonogram.
I agree we must preach the Gospel. That must be our main message and it is the only way that hearts will change.
Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. (no pun intended)
"We act shocked when a lost man speaks his truth." Rick
No, we shouldn't.
But Obama says he's a Christian, and that he believes in Jesus Christ as his savior.
Is his Jesus Christ the one true Christ, who is sovereign King of the universe, and His name the only name by which a man can be saved?
I think not.
I believe Obama says things with his lips, and not his heart.
But since he claims to be a follower of Christ, then he can surely be called to be accountable to the Word of God, and for saying things like we are not considered humans until 9 months in the womb, and up till that time a woman has the right to abort, and kill, this baby.
China's leaders are godless, and hate christ outright.
They force abortions on their women, and the Church in China has to be strong and stand against a hostile government.
I appreciate my sisters and brothers in China.
And we individuals, who make up the Church in America, can call upon anyone who says they are a Christian, to look at the Holy Bible, and see what it says about abortion, and the Gospel.
The pulpits must never bring politics forth, but the sincere milk of God's truth alone. I hate it when I hear of politicians in pulpits on the Lord's day, or preachers talking about politics.
Preach the Word to the children of the Lord, please.
Thanks for bringing this to light Steve. It's not like that quote was ever going to show up on the news.
I posted my reaction to this quote on my blog if you don't mind?

A vote for either Obama or McCain is a rejection of Christ. They both place big government over family values. Please consider a 3rd party candidate who will honor life at all costs and reject socialist values!
Say "No!" to both these evil men. We as Christians must make a firm stand in this election or suffer God's wrath on our blessed nation.
We stand with you, Campi. Our great and glorious God hates hands which participate in the shedding of innocent blood. [Proverbs 16-17, 2 Kings 24:3-4, Jeremiah 22:3 & more].
Is sacrificing one's unborn child, no matter how the child is conceived, self-serving or self-denying? (Questions and/or arguments always arise regarding pregnancies as a result of horrible crimes. We believe the same standard applies: which choice is self-denying and which choice is self-serving?)
God has clearly and repeatedly made His will known to His people in this regard throughout the contextual, accumulative evidences of Scripture.
"And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, 'If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.'" - Mark 8:34
"But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin." - James 4:16-17

Dog gone it, Steve! You stole my bumper sticker idea . . .
I am still trying to figure out what this man has ever run, managed, or served that qualifies him to be the leader of the USA!?!
Mike
Baroke Obama is an empty suit. Recently he said that he had visited all 57 states in our country; and didn't know the capital of Israel; or what constitutes "drilling rights" under current lease agreements on the 80,000,000 acres already under consideration, etc.
BUT, beyond that - he is for live abortions. Did you hear that? LIVE abortions. If a failed partial birth abortion produces a healthy baby at birth, then that baby should be placed on a tray and left to starve to death by ignoring it for a number of days.
No matter how good he can read a teleprompter; no matter how charismatic his speeches are; that is enough reason to pass on Baroke.
I have no problem with this outpouring of indignation over the issue of abortion. I share it. What I find disgusting is the selective nature of our sensitivity to sin.
The Bible is far, far more explicit in its condemnation of those who abuse the poor than it ever is about abortion (about which it says nothing specific, despite the fact that abortion was widespread in the ancient world). Yet many of the people who read this blog have voted for, and will continue to vote for, political candidates whose policies towards the poor are reprehensible and a blatant violation of clear and direct Scriptural commands to the contrary, all because they happen to mouth opposition to abortion.
If you can't vote for a Democrat because they condone the sin of abortion, great. I applaud you. But you are a hypocrite if you turn around and vote for a Republican, whose economic policies are even more sinful because the Bible is so much more explicit about our treatment of the poor.
Michael

The issue isn't voting for a Democrat or a Republican; the issue is supporting candidates that condone the murder of infants at such gross and genocidal proportions.
However, if you think that Democrats have cared more for the poor you are gravely mistaken. I have never seen the absolute abuse of money than that which has come from the liberal camp.
Check your facts my brother... Liberalism isn't about benefiting community; it's about benefiting themselves.
Amen...well said Steve on your last comment. Good post.
I hope I'm not breaking any blog rules with this (if so I do apologize) post, but I put together a collective look at Mr. Obama's actions and presented beliefs at my blog. It's all links to documented stuff so that I could quickly reference the nauseatingly high number of Christians (and others) who keep telling me I should vote for him.

Your links at the HTML you listed are so very helpful. Thank you for the good and continued updated work you are doing on this candidate.
Campi
Nobama....he is the Obamanation of Desolations.
Abortion is just the modern day version of child sacrifice to the god moloch.
Michael, I just couldn't pass on your comment that suggests that the Democratic party is more likely to serve the poor than the Republican party.
One of the biggest problems that we have created for ourselves as Christians is handing over the "problem of the poor" to the government. God has not called us to use the resources of the government to serve the poor. He has asked us individually and as a community to serve the widow and the poor.
Neither party serves the poor because the poor are also made in the image of God and have worth. Neither party serves the poor because they desire to glorify God in serving the poor.
We need to take back the job God assigned to us.

Brother, you should check your facts & ideals. Handing money to anyone capable of working will merely perpetuate the cycle of poverty. Conservatism (which is the ostensible foundation for the GOP) dictate a less-intrusive government and more opportunity for personal development, i.e. creating their own way with the abilities God has given them.
2 Thes 3:10 says: "For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either." The best policy from a success-oriented view point is to give people opportunity. The christian perspective is that people should work, or they shouldn't eat.
Obviously this doesn't mean we don't take care of those who are incapable of taking care of themselves. This should be the responsibility of government, but of churches and individuals. History has shown that when taxes are low, giving is high.
In spite of taxes, we invest a great deal of our money helping the poor globally, through Compassion International.
Giving to the poor, while not the exclusive claim of the right, is far more prominent over there. The left would rather take all our money and give to whom they deem worthy.
Steve is right - this isn't about party politics so much as selecting someone who represents a Christian world-view. There aren't any out there that I can see, but clearly Obama is the candidate FARTHEST from that.
Liberals are all about control and self-agrandisement. We don't know enough to manage our lives, so we need the government to do it for us.
Unfortunately conservatives have needlessly given the platform to the liberals today. We need to reclaim the biblical convictions and moorings that once governed our lives.
And no better place than to stand up for the right of every unborn child to have life outside the womb.
There is no greater asset and treasured thing then these precious unborn lives.
And may we pray here for Barack Obama. Pray that he would come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior through the gospel of sola fide. Pray the Lord would bring conviction upon his soul and mind on this issue of abortion, partial birth abortion and live abortion.
Grace and peace,
Steve
All I have to do is to think of what my life would be without my daughter, Leah.
Dear Lord, come at once!
George Bush as President doesn't introduce bills. That's the task of the Congress. He'd sign a pro-life piece of legislation if that were to transpire. I'll also add that his administration has worked to bring more of a pro-life approach to much of the AIDS activism going on in Africa.
James
As far as democrats being for the "poor" I'll say there is one poor man they utterly despise and try to stab in the back every chance they get. That's the US Marine NCO fighting the
fight in Iraq and the Stan. Thank you John Murtha the friend of the poor man!

Here is The Born Alive Infant Protection Act that Barry Obama opposed.
This just isn't a matter of public policy; this is a matter of personal convictions on the sanctity of life.
There are some great comments on here. However I have been hearing this same thing even before barack got elected, that God will have as president who he wants, if Barack gets the vote its somehow Gods will, Hellllllo.
This is bad theology
#1 God did not get to vote in the past election and to say that because a bunch of ungodly or uneducated people including the upper and middle class ones voted for this crazy person that does not mean our God is for him.
#2. God very seldom gets his way in the earth, is He in control absolutly, can God intervene and change history yes but does he, not always. It sounds so religious that its in Gods hands but in reality the scripture says when the righteous are idle wickedness triumphs.
#3 Because we have elected a man that is obviously a heathen and an ungodly individual should we give up hope , no way our God said he would work all things together for good to them that love Him even through this dark valley that our nation is facing. Let the ignorant be ignorant stil regardless our God will allow us to thriumph victoriously. Let the heaten rage and imagine a vain thing our God reigns. Let it be James lll
