THE LORD OF GLORY IS THE LAMB OF GOD
...after making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high

Jesus Christ the Lord                                                    the Great High Priest

Since then we have a great high priest
who has passed through the heavens,
Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable
to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect
has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace,
that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
-Hebrews 4:14-16

"Jesus Christ is the sum and quintessence of the gospel;
the wonder of angels; the joy and triumph of saints.
The name of Christ is sweet, it is as music in the ear,
honey in the mouth, and a cordial at the heart…
the Mediator of the covenant, the restorer of lapsed sinners."
-THOMAS WATSON

"Jesus is the Truth. We believe in Him,
—not merely in His words. He Himself is Doctor and Doctrine,
Revealer and Revelation, the Illuminator and the Light of Men.
He is exalted in every word of truth, because He is its sum and substance.
He sits above the gospel, like a prince on His own throne.
Doctrine is most precious when we see it distilling from His lips
and embodied in His person. Sermons [and songs] are valuable
in proportion as they speak of Him and point to Him.
A Christ-less gospel is no gospel and a Christ-less discourse
is the cause of merriment to devils."
-C.H. SPURGEON

"It is a throne of grace that God in Christ is
represented to us upon; but yet is is a throne still
whereon majesty and glory do reside,
and God is always to be considered by us as on a throne."
-JOHN OWEN

My brother Steve..

I am in awe of our High Priest. Thankful for His promise for his elect and broken because of His mercy and grace. So thankful salvation is by Grace alone...not by my own merit or works,for I fail at every turn! All praise, majesty and honour is due our High Priest.

I am reminded of these scriptures also in Hebrews.

Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

Praise God! Christ is the more perfect tabernacle..

Heb 9:11 But Christ being come a high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Great Watson, Spurgeon and Owens quotes!

Keeping you in my prayers this week.

by His Grace alone,

Bill

I must be tired... just to clarify on my Heb 9:11 comment. "Christ is in the more perfect tabernacle." (Not Christ is the more perfect tabernacle)

Christ appears in the presence of God for us. Just as the high priest appeared for Israel on the Day of Atonement. (Lev 16:32, 33)

Just wanted to clarify. Didn't want anyone confused by my typing error. :)

This is a great portion of Scripture -- along with some stellar quotes!
