The Resurrection:
Matthew 28:1 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.
3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.”
8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
"First, draw off your hearts, because Jesus Christ, the Head, is risen and ascended upon high, and there sits at the right hand of His Father; and if the Head is in heaven, where should the members be but where the Head is? Shall Christ our Head be in heaven, and shall our hearts, which are His members, lie groveling on the ground and panting after the dust of the earth, making all our inquiry and labor after these? 'If Christ our Head be risen, seek those things that are above, where Christ sits at God's right hand.'" -CHRISTOPHER LOVE

Hallelujah and amen - what a glorious day!
Great quote from Love...a dear man of God who paid a heavy price for not being culturally relevant.
Mt.6:21

He lives, hallelujah.....He lives!
"We know that God was satisfied by Christ's death by the resurrection of Christ, for the resurrection is God's seal upon Christ's work. . . . by the resurrection God gave notice that Christ's death was the perfect substitution for sin He entered this world to make and that He, the Father, had accepted it in place of the condemnation of the sinner. . . This is what the resurrection is to us. It is God's declaration that the account of our moral indebtedness has been paid, that God is satisfied. This just God will never demand anything else for our salvation." -John Owen
Relecting on and rejoicing in this knowledge today!!
“Brethren, He died for us, but ever since the hour of the resurrection, He has been the mighty Jesus, the mighty Christ, the mighty Lord! Our business is to thank God with tearful reverence for the Cross, but to go on to a right understanding of what the resurrection meant both to God and to men. We understand and acknowledge that the Resurrection has placed a glorious crown upon all of Christ's sufferings!” A. W. Tozer
I remembered reading this quote and thinking how applicable it was to the earlier discussion a few posts back concerning the fact that we need a right view of our gloriously resurrected and transcendent Lord Jesus Christ.
Rejoicing,
Debbie
Sometimes the truth is hard to stomach for people, for whom no faith in anything is easier.
The truth is, a price was paid all those years ago.
The price of death was paid that we here could benefit in a relationship with the creator of all things.
This day, His Son, who paid that price willingly, defeated death for all of us...past...present...future.
Thanks be to God, the reconciler of all things unto Himself.
Thanks be to God that there are brothers and sisters this day celebrating in one voice...that Jesus rose as He said.
Thanks be to God that we can know the Almighty in ways that others can as well, if they choose to die to themselves.
Thanks be to God for all of you, this day.
