BIBLICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY
...uncommon sense drawn from the well of God's Word

A Heavenly Escort
"And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest." -Genesis 28:15

By CH Spurgeon
Do we need journeying mercies? Here are choice ones—God's presence and preservation. In all places we need both of these, and in all places we shall have them if we go at the call of duty, and not merely according to our own fancy. Why should we look upon removal to another country as a sorrowful necessity when it is laid upon us by the divine will? In all lands the believer is equally a pilgrim and a stranger; and yet in every region the Lord is His dwelling place, even as He has been to His saints in all generations. We may miss the protection of an earthly monarch, but when God says, "I will keep thee," we are in no real danger. This is a blessed passport for a traveler and a heavenly escort for an emigrant.

Jacob had never left his father's room before; he had been a mother's boy and not an adventurer like his brother. Yet he went abroad, and God went with him. He had little luggage and no attendants; yet no prince ever journeyed with a nobler bodyguard. Even while he slept in the open field, angels watched over him, and the Lord God spoke to him. If the Lord bids us go, let us say with our Lord Jesus, "Arise, let us go hence." -source

A timely reminder not only for those travelling but for all of us, wherever He's put us.

Such a convicting and encouraging post for me today … my daughter is leaving for her first missions trip overseas and although we’ve done everything in our power to prepare her for every eventuality, I must let go and trust. Simply, trust. She is just beaming with anticipation and while I couldn’t be more excited for her at this opportunity, my mother’s heart is far too vulnerable to all the “what ifs” that seems to fill my thoughts at 3:00 a.m. … how very much I needed this! I’d much rather use this time beneficially praying for her instead of pointlessly worrying over her.

Learning to rest in His presence and preservation,

Debbie

In all of my thirty plus years of travel, I haven't ever had a serious accident whether by car or air or train. The Lord has surely given me his protecting grace.

My daughter Mary Morris and I just returned home from a week long outing which included a few ministry opportunities as well. Once again, the Lord gave His protection from things that we probably don't even know...

He is our refuge and strong tower! Amen?

Over the 4th of July weekend, I took my kids to Louisville, KY for some “R & R.” This was sort of a big deal, because it was actually my first real venture into traveling on a “vacation” as a single mom. The four of us (I’m including the dog) stayed in a motel adjacent to the airport, returning to our room way after dark each night. (Because we had the pooch with us this trip, the management required us to use the side or rear entrances when entering or exiting the building). And no, the dog offered no protection; she’s 13 years old, hard-of-hearing, and she weighs about 20 lbs. (soaking wet).

Before we left, we prayed over our trip, and asked God to be with us for our journey. Although we were most certainly pretty vulnerable at times, I felt at peace and secure in His care. I never doubted He was with us; I never doubted He was preserving us.....whether we were on foot or in our van. (And even when I find myself driving in the wrong lane and having to backtrack to get where I’m supposed to be, I know He’s still with me in my travels). :-)

“So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’” (Hebrews 13:6, ESV)

Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to do a different bit of travelling.

I am considering a move from a company that I really enjoy that is being purchased, to another organization. While I know the purpose of this post is usually to expos about Campi's topics, I could really use prayer. God has been lining this up over the past week, and I know that He has His hand in this. Please pray that His will be done. :)

"Please pray that His will be done."

It is a privilege to do so.

And Godspeed safely all of our traveling brothers and sisters, as befits His perfect, sovereign will.

“God has been lining this up … and I know that He has His hand in this.” What a place of safety and assurance, even when we can’t see very far down the road! I pray you’ll have wisdom and discernment as you seek to know His direction.

I figured I should give an update.

My company had to eliminate my position today, however, I was offered a new position. This will gain me a wage increase, and less stress on trying to find work.

I'm not out of the woods yet, however. Thank you all for your prayers, and please continue to do so. :)
