A Test of Faith
...which points below are true or false?

This past week I asked my dear friend and blogging buddy, Alan Kurschner, if he had any articles for COT/A1M. He had an excellent idea - a "theology test" which you will find below. This test expresses thoughts about faith, salvation, man, and God. Which points do you think are true and which are false? Take this "test of faith" and let me know what you think.

Enjoy your weekend...

1.
God graciously enables every sinner to repent and believe, but He does not interfere with man's freedom. Each sinner possesses a free will, and his eternal destiny depends on how he uses it. Man's freedom consists of his ability to choose good over evil in spiritual matters. T or F?

2. God selected only those whom He knew would of themselves freely believe the gospel. It was left entirely up to man as to who would believe and therefore as to who would be elected unto salvation. God chose those whom He knew would, of their own free will, choose Christ. T or F?

3. Christ's redeeming work made it possible for everyone to be saved but did not actually secure the salvation of anyone. Although Christ died for all men and for every man, only those who believe on Him are saved. His death enabled God to pardon sinners on the condition that they believe. T or F?

4. The Spirit calls inwardly all those who are called outwardly by the gospel invitation; He does all that He can to bring every sinner to salvation. Man's free will limits the Spirit in the application of Christ's saving work. The Holy Spirit can only draw to Christ those who allow Him to have His way with them. Until the sinner responds, the Spirit cannot give life. T or F?

5. Salvation is accomplished through the combined efforts of God (who takes the initiative) and man (who must respond) - man's response being the determining factor. God has provided salvation for everyone, but His provision becomes effective only for those who, of their own free will, "choose" to cooperate with Him and accept His offer of grace. T or F?

All statements are False....do I get a prize for being the first one with the correct answer? :>

Agreed that all are false, but that doesn't stop them from being preached as "gospel truth" in many churches.

1. half true/ a sinner's destiny depends on how he freely lives.

2. False

3. False However, Christ's redeeming work was sufficient for all to be saved, though He died specifically for His children; the ungodly sinners who He loved, and who He befriended; as Abraham was a friend, and the Apsotles were friends. And so all who call upon the Lord, and repent, are His friends.
"Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

4. False

5. False

Have a blessed Lord's Day.

That was way too easy! and it was an "open book quiz"...I had the word open at the time :)

All of the answers are found right in there!

I have no patience for those who insist on preaching free will while at the same time refusing to take an honest look at the scriptures to make sure that that's what they say! That's a disease that is an epidemic these days.

I understand what it is to believe that salvation is synergistic because I held to that belief for many years. Patience was nothing for God because He prepared a time to reveal the truth to me, and He did it!!!
It is such a painful thing to think of my brothers and sisters in Christ that are still in bondage to pride, that is really all that holds us back, the unwillingness to admit or even think that He did it ALL. Many still do not understand that He will give His glory to no one, and that they need to give all the glory to Him and take none.
So, if you still hold to this belief in any area of your life ask yourself 'what is so bad about giving him all the glory?' Ask him to crucify the remainder of your pride, let go of who you think you are and let Him make you into who you are supposed to be.
Perhaps I speak this to no one here but I hope that we would all weep for those that are under bondage to this belief, it is truly a wonderful and freeing thing to give him all the glory and take no credit for ones self.

He first loved us, you did not choose to love Him: 1John 4:19

While sinners He died for us
Romans 5:6-8

His gift of faith, not your will to believe: Eph. 2:8,9

We were apart from Him and apart from Him we could do nothing, that includes making a right decision: John 15:5 (nothing means nothing!)

Revealed by the Son, not discovered by you: Mt. 11:25-27

The Father calls you, you do not come of your own accord:
John 6:35-44

In his work titled, That Incredible Christian, Tozer said this:
"The trouble is that the whole "Accept Christ" attitude is likely to be wrong. It shows Christ applying to us rather than us to Him. it makes Him stand hat-in-hand awaiting our verdict on Him, instead of our kneeling with troubled hearts awaiting His verdict on us. It may even permit us to accept Christ by an impulse of mind or emotions, painlessly, at no loss to our ego and no inconvenience to our usual way of life."

BTW- great picture! But what is that fuzzy-mongrel-giant-rodentish looking thing?

Gigantor1231,
Just reading those passages fills me with a sense of awe toward our Creator!

Thanks for posting them.

All are false--though frequently proclaimed to be true!

Ever heard of Opossum pie? I think the fella in the picture is looking forward to having some!

Robert

Those passages are really pretty incredible and humbling passages. To just think that He loved me enough to do all the work and then He chose me, and He did not have to but He wanted to, it was his good pleasure!.... WOW

All false, but widely proclaimed as true in much of the church.
