This topic is so important because it relates to the very character of God. More and more people today don't see Modalism (the view espoused by TD Jakes and others in church history) as heresy anymore, but that is such a tragedy. I have one such pastor in my neighborhood who even says that the Trinity is not a needed doctrine and people today don't have any "use" for the Trinity. He says that as though true and false are determined by usefulness to humans. The conclusion is that God's character somehow gets defined by his creation. Very sad indeed.
By the way, I think James White said that BB Warfield's book "The Lord of Glory" contains one of the best treatments of the Trinity available, in case anyone wants to dig into this subject more.
The Eternal Triune God is the one true God.
All other God's are unbiblical and false.
God the Father sent the Son for the glory of His grace.
God wanted to dwell with man from the begining.
He came to walk with Adam.
He then came to Moses and had the tabernacle for His presence.
Then Solomon built the Temple.
Now the Holy Spirit abides with His Church, the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
One day the Lord God will dwell with His people in the New Jerusalem.
Only through the Triune God could this happen.
Steve,
You had mentioned a few weeks ago that you were preparing an article regarding Doug Paggit and His theology.
I was just wondering if that project was still on your plate and if we would see it soon?
I just heard some interesting interviews here -> http://billphillips.wordpress.com/2007/10/23/the-emergent-cult/
and was curious as to your take on things.
In Christ,
Eric
