Song for the Shepherd
...a simple prayer: "I want to be your servant Lord"

I must apologize at the outset. I am experiencing a bit of technical difficulty in my "blogcast" software. It has plagued me since yesterday afternoon. I hope to have the problem solved by this evening and will resume blogcasting excellence by tomorrow.

I was hoping to play this song for you "live" (as it were) for you as well. Though I wrote it a few years ago, I have never recorded it; and therefore it is still "new." If the software glitches clear up by tomorrow, I will post it as a blogcast.

In the meantime, I trust you will be encouraged by the lyrics. May this be our humble and sincere prayer each day.

Grace and peace to you all,
Steve
1 Cor. 10:31

For Your Glory
by Steve Camp

I want to be Your servant Lord
To do Your will above my own desire
Purify me with Your holy fire
I must die daily to my flesh,
and trust You with all I am

Take my wants, take my will, take my words, take all my ways,
Just use me for Your glory, use me for Your glory

Take my life, take my thoughts, take my dreams, take no thought of me
O use me Lord only for Your glory.

I have a prideful selfish heart
But my soul's desire is to worship You
To be more than a hearer of Your truth
Just to keep it and obey;
and follow You faithfully every day

Take my wants, take my will, take my words, take all my ways,
Just use me for Your glory, use me for Your glory

Take my life, take my thoughts, take my dreams, take no thought of me
O use me Lord only for Your glory.

Even though You slay me, I'll still trust in You
Everything I long for,
I resign to You
Let me not find praise for anything I am or do

But glory in only knowing You
Take my wants, take my will, take my words, take all my ways,
Just use me for Your glory, use me for Your glory

Take my life, take my thoughts, take my dreams, take no thought of me
O use me Lord only for Your glory
Use me Lord, daily for your glory

Incredible lyrics and very uplifting. Funny how the Lord works..been meditating on Christ as our Shepherd for some days now. The ball just keeps rolling.

Those are some excellent words. I read them and thought of this hymn.

"Father Let Me Dedictae"

'Not from sorrow, pain or care, freedom dare I claim,
This alone shall be my prayer, glorify Thy Name.'

You're heart and this hymn writers heart seem to be one in the Spirit.

I can't wait to be able to hear this song!
The lyrics are powerful - as always.
Do You know that my 4 y.o. prefers Your songs to songs for children when he goes to sleep?

Steve,

I humbly request that you record 'For Your Glory' for your next CD. Speaking of your next CD, Will there be a follow up to 'Desiring God'?
