Senator John Kerry:
...the loss of honor in American politics

Proverbs 13:5: A righteous man hates falsehood, but a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully.

By now, Senator Kerry's careless, offensive, shameful, disgusting, and demeaning words about the brave and faithful troops risking their lives in Iraq are infamous. Senator Kerry's jerk-filled popinjay statements need more than politically motivated, protect my base and press release, disingenuous apology to make things right. He should at a minimum, humble himself, ask for forgiveness from the troops, their families, his party, and this nation. He then should strongly consider his future as one fit for continued political leadership. In a time of war, this is conduct that is unconscionable for a Senator of the United States.

For further information, click to Michelle Malkin's excellent coverage of Kerry's self-induced political melt-down. In addition, his "assassination chic" rhetoric he expressed recently on Bill Maher's HBO Show "Real Time" only adds to his disloyalty and embarrassment as a Senator to our nation. This is a travesty ladies and gentlemen and is deserving of some righteous indignation.

I usually don't comment on political events... but this one needed a swift yet brief retort.

If Kerry really believes the war in Iraq is wrong, he should be attacking his fellow Congressmen(many who are Democrats!) who voted for it, not the troops.

I LOVE the photo! God bless those guys for taking Kerry's comments with a grain of salt, and exercising some well placed sarcasm!

John Kerry spoke his heart. It's a very bad choice of words, but it's his heart. He ought to stick with it, instead of being wishy-washy. I respect those more who speak with conviction. I may disagree strongly, and with passion, but say what you mean, and mean what you say.

Like the issue of abortion. The two running for Senator in my state of MD, have spoekne on Meet the Press, and although I am voting for Michael Steele, for he is pro-life, and Ben Cardin is pro-choice, Cardin spoke his heart, and Steele didn't, when asked about Roe vs. Wade.

I wish Steele would have said, "I'm pro-life, and I am praying and will do all I can to overturn this judgement". Amen.
Maybe I'm wrong, but then again, I'm no politician.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"

Seems like we have gone completely topsy-turvy in our country.

Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you.

Government is now the sovereign sugar-daddy.

Didn't Kerry himself serve in the military?

Kerry's still scary.....if he "botched" a joke, as he claims, then he has about as much business trying to be humorous as...well...other not-so-funny individuals. ;-)

Andrew,

Would I respect you? Yes & no.

I respect everyone who is created the image of God. I respect those in authority. The Word of God tells us to do so.

I would not respect the actions, and I do not respect Kerry's actions. But I pray for God's mercy to come upon him, as it did me.
I was once lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.

Blessins to you.

ps Actually I'm not very well spoken on politiics and such. Though Christians need to be. I'm still learning how to engane this arena.

I really appreciate Steve's balanced thoughts on the whole political realm. Very helpful to me.

Peter says to honour all men.

How about loving your enemy?

The Lord commands us to pray for all men, and those who are in authority as well.

It's only by God's grace that I am not walking in the darkness. I pray for this same grace for others.
For me That's how it breaks down. I speak the truth in love.

I have prayed for all the leaders. I pray for John Kerry, that the Lord would have mercy on him, as He did me. That Kerry would come to the truth, and that he would be granted repentance and faith unto life.

I wrote to Ted Kennedy and shared my heart about how I hate that abortion is legal, and that I am praying for him, and that as a leader of this nation the Lord calls me to pray for him.

He wrote back, and said he appreciated the prayer.

I don't know what else to say.

I guess we just see it different Andrew.

Proverbs 13:5: A righteous man hates falsehood, but a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully.

Does this also apply to Evangelical Republicans (like, say, Ted Haggard), or only to liberal Democrats? The people of this country will never take our Christian faith seriously until we deal with our own hypocrisies first.

Kerry,

Definitely has some serious problems, but lest we forget, our sitting president has serious problems of his own, including his clear antichristian statements immediately following 9-11 where Jesus is relegated to the realm of the same god as that of Islam. This is a far more serious crime against the God of the universe than Kerry's statements. Even greater than that is the fact that much of the evangelical church still corts such men touting them as "godly".

Kerry is just not as polished a liar as most of the other politicians on both sides. How we can judge republican depravity better than democrat depravity I'll never figure out.

Clearly, Ted Haggard wasn't a righteous man. His political leanings are irrelevant.

Does this also apply to liberal Democrats (like, say, John Kerry) or only to Evangelical Republicans? The people of this country will never take our Christian faith seriously until we stop using a double standard dependent on political affiliation, and instead lift up God's Word as our standard.

tomwright,

You are most likely right. Good point.

Pointing out the sins of lost people is as productive and insightful as arguing the earth is round. As for politics, a blind man can see who is behind American politics and it isn't one of the Persons of the Godhead, although he once lived with them.

Why are we so surpised at how the lost act? I believe this was one of your previous post's against Dr. Dobson, Mr. Camp.

While I agree with your post, you are most hypocritcal of your own writing.
