IMMANUEL, GOD WITH US
...a Christmas hymn

words and music by steve camp

Immanuel
Immanuel, Immanuel
God is with us, God is with us
Immanuel, Immanuel
God is with us

V1 Shepherds rejoice lift up your eyes,
And send your fears away salvation’s born to day
Jesus, the God whom angels fear,
Comes down to dwell with you but not as monarchs do

No gold nor purple swaddling bands nor royal shining things
A manger for His cradle stands to hold the King of kings

Immanuel
Immanuel, Immanuel
God is with us, God is with us
Immanuel, Immanuel
God is with us

V2 Go shepherds where the infant lies,
And see His humble throne, come and kiss the Son
Angels sang and praises rang,
The heavenly armies throng and magnify the song

Shall angels have their songs and men no tunes to raise
O may we loose our tongues and give Thee glorious praise

Immanuel
Immanuel, Immanuel
God is with us, God is with us
Immanuel, Immanuel
God is with us

PRINCE OF PEACE, WONDERFUL COUNSELOR
THE MIGHTY GOD, AND EVERLASTING FATHER
HE CAME TO EARTH TO REDEEM A PEOPLE FOR HIS OWN
AND NOW WE LIVE TO LIVE FOR HIM, ALL PRAISE TO CHRIST ALONE

Immanuel
Immanuel, Immanuel
God is with us, God is with us
Immanuel, Immanuel
God is with us

Excellent. Can we hear the audio?

That's a great song - thanks very much for sharing it with us. One is terribly curious about the music though. I hope you'll be recording it! I also can't help but thinking how wonderful it would be to have a whole album of Christmas songs with the same richness, depth, and beauty as those found on "Mercy in the Wilderness" (for example)... and sung by the same guy. Is it something you would consider as a worthy endeavor?

Melodies are great, and what's a song without them....(only a poem, right?) :-) But I'm a lyric afficionado myself, and it was a blessing to read first the words without the music.

So, lyrically....oh my!

The shepherds were so privileged to be able to witness the events personally so long ago--can you imagine the thoughts that went through their minds that night?!?! First an angel, then the Christ Child!
And now, in this day and time, may we truly "live to live for Him," and give Him all praise.

I would love to hear it! And I agree with hessel-man that a Christmas album with songs written and sung by you would be a great thing!

Man, I really like that line!

Brian,
yes that one really stood out to me as well.

Steve,
I can wait for the CD I think but these are great lyrics to ponder.

Good stuff, and more substance than most contemporary music...

>Colinm: can we hear the audio?

No. Steve apparently has yet to master the fine art of delivering audio *with* lyric over the internet. It's a cool tune... we'll have to take his word for it. :-) I'm sure this single will be ready in time for Easter, though.

(just kidding, Steve) :-)

Steve: "I would love to hear it".

Take a number. So would the rest of us. :-) Just think... if he had spent all of that time posting the audio, he wouldn't have had all that time to write the 12 days of Christ Mass.

:-)

Hey Steve,

You're welcome to come back to Colorado to preach and debut this one at Heritage Church as well!

Steve,

I can't believe you haven't made a Christmas album. Cliche, I know, but we believers never tire of the old old Christmas story.

How about it? It would be perennial.

I was privileged to see the Christmas concert you put on/directed in 2002-3(?). It was the best I've ever seen, even without Schuller's flying angels.

Blessings,
Terry

"Go shepherds where the infant lies,

Yeah Bhedr, I took pause at that line also. Can you imagine being there? Actually seeing the Son of God and understanding the weight of the moment?

God is so awesome...

Merry Christmas All

Wow, I somehow miss littlegal_66's response. I sort of repeated what she said. I guess believer's think a like.
