After a cursory read it seems to be making a valid point, but perhaps you understand it differently than I do? It appears that the leaders of this event have been sucked into the post modern/emergent morass. In order to be more relevant and youth friendly they have decided to use Donald Miller as the key note speaker this year. Having read two of Mr. Miller's books, Blue Like Jazz and Searching for God Knows What, it is all to apparent why He is lauded by men such as Brian McLaren, Tony Campolo, Dan Kimball, he is one of the post emergent elites favorites. At best he is wet behind the ears and deceived as a Christian and at worst he is disguised as a angel of light. Mr. Miller is into narative only and prefers to stay away from the messiness of the bible, he kind of loathes the bible, I quote from his book Searching for God Knows What;

pg. 49, 50 "You would think some of the writers of the Bible would have gone to a Christian writers seminar to learn magical formulas about how to dangle a carrot in front of a rabbit, but they didn't. Instead, the writers of the Bible tell a lot of stories and account of a lot of history and write down a lot of poems and recite a great deal of boring numbers and then conclude with various creepy hallucinations that, in some mysterious way, explain the future, in which, apparently, we all slip into Dungeons and Dragons outfits and fight the giant frog people. I forget how it goes exactly, and I mean no disrespect. But because it is so scatterbrained, and has virtually no charts and graphs, I am actually quite surprised the Bible sells. Perhaps it's those lovely and colorful maps, which puzzles me because they aren't even current.
But I like the Bible. Now that I no longer see it as a self-help book, it has infinitely more merit. It has soul, I guess you could say."

CBNW Men's Roundup is a conservative baptist event at which about 1500 to 2000 men attend yearly, this is no small thing. Mr. Miller will be presenting his anti theological relational doctrine there, less meat and more koolaid. Please pray that the mature brothers at this event have the discernment to stand up for the truth. This is hitting close to home, your church may be assaulted by this post emergent bilge next, you need to be on your guards and above all know your word.gigantor1231https://www.blogger.com/profile/13329932791380481665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14012689.post-1156917467351242772006-08-30T01:57:00.000-04:002006-08-30T01:57:00.000-04:00Ah, who needs bloggers? Your lyrics were just too overwhelming, convicting. Maybe that's why, in spite of myself, I bought 4 albums. Maybe that's why I can still hear most of the 'Justice' album in my head TO THIS DAY! Maybe that's why I occassionally drop a quote from one of your songs to the college students I minister to now. Maybe that's why I used one of your songs as the background music to a missions project I had to work on in seminary (where, BTW, I studied under Don Whitney). I don't know. What I do know is this: God has used you in my life time and again. I was blessed to find your site today, and thrilled to see its content.
