As Macarthur stated, the resurrection is the key to everything - there is no salvation apart from the resurrection - "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9 NASB). Not only is the resurrection key, it is crucial!

Grace and peace,
Olanolan stricklandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05345193051857763038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14012689.post-72801355716016897532008-03-23T12:11:00.000-04:002008-03-23T12:11:00.000-04:00RobertThank you brother for your kind and encourag...Robert
Thank you brother for your kind and encouraging words. Thank you for posting it today.

Also, I want to thank you for keeping Christ the focus here. I just posted a comment at Tim Challies blog and while I like his blog, I noticed that he hadn't posted one article this entire weekend that dealt with the cross or even today on the resurrection. It was just silly things.

But then I came here and found a mountain of great articles on the cross and resurrection. So a note of encouragement to you to not stop in keeping the Lord your main theme. Other blogs maybe more popular, but this one is consistently Christ exalting! I need to comment more often and let you know what a blessing all these articles are for an older pastor like me.

The Lord is risen He is risen indeed.
RobertDaWildBoarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14002189936129025622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14012689.post-58041957878282104822008-03-23T09:32:00.000-04:002008-03-23T09:32:00.000-04:00ScruplesJesus did not come to bring social justice...Scruples

Jesus did not come to bring social justice, just as He did not come to remove Rome from power over the Jews! He came that mankind might be justified, through His death, before the Father.
Social justice comes after the fact of the work on the cross, way after the fact. It is even safe to say that social justice is not even a concern apart from spiritual justice before the one and only living God, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul." Mark 8: 34-38! You can have all the social justice you want, you can look to Gandhi, or MLK Jr., it does not make any difference who it is, if they did not preach the death and resurrection of Christ as preeminent then they failed, and we know where Ghandi stood, He is most likely in hell today because of his stand.
So, SJ2 or what ever other SJ# you have can takes it's place before Christ and His resurrection, it is relegated a place way back in the line. Apart from Christ you can feel free to place it in hell because that is where it will take you eventually!gigantor1231https://www.blogger.com/profile/13329932791380481665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14012689.post-1144985977086649342006-04-13T23:39:00.000-04:002006-04-13T23:39:00.000-04:00Happy Birthday, Steve!Praise the Lord for the resu...Happy Birthday, Steve!

Praise the Lord for the resurrection of Christ!

Consider this also. When Jesus died on the Cross on that Good Friday, and took the wrath of God on himself...in some mysterious way...we were in Him.

We were crucified with Him, and we died. By the grace of God, our old self died, in Christ.

Then we, in Christ, went to the tomb. We were “buried with Him through baptism”...the baptism by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ.

Then when He was raised from the dead, we too were raised from the dead. Made alive to God through Christ Jesus.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together...--Eph. 2:4-6

In raising us up with Him, He gave us a whole new identity.

Where we were Sinners by nature, He made us Saints.

He made us His children, friends of Christ, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, in union with Him, adopted by Him, complete in Christ, free from condemnation, the righteousness of God in Christ, a branch of the Vine, chosen and appointed to bear fruit, the temple of the Holy Spirit, seated with Him in the heavenlies, God's workmanship, inseparable from the love of God, fully accepted in the Beloved.

We can assume no glory for it. All glory goes to the Lamb, who is worthy, who was slain from the foundation of the world.

We can know by faith that we are risen with Christ. And Easter, Resurrection Day, can have greater and greater meaning for us, when we see what God has accomplished in us. --Terry

Happy Resurrection Day!
With love,
Terry, Michele and MichaelTerry Rayburnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00888533194435826837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14012689.post-1144805382117830932006-04-11T21:29:00.000-04:002006-04-11T21:29:00.000-04:004given,Amen! It’s one thing to present evidence after the fact; it’s another to foretell it and then bring it to pass, which God alone can do.

Everything Jesus said or did was foretold in amazing detail (Amos 3:7), and in the passion most of this prophecy was rendered in first person. The information is so complete that it can actually be harmonized into story form, to tell the same story through the prophet's eyes. And when this is done, it sounds like Jesus Himself telling the story. If you'd like to see what this looks like, here's a link:

The Sufferings and the Glorylorenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12913487595726748404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14012689.post-1125290985969662472005-08-29T00:49:00.000-04:002005-08-29T00:49:00.000-04:00The resurrection proves the goodness of creation a...The resurrection proves the goodness of creation and our cultural mandate to wisely order creation which is what evangelicals are doing with JS2.

Oliver O'Donovan provides the Biblical basis for this conclusion in his book "Resurrection and the Moral Order" (page 13)

“The meaning of the resurrection, as Saint Paul presents it, is that it is God's final and decisive word on the life of his creature, Adam. It is in the first place, God's reversal of Adam's choice of sin and death: 'As in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive' (1 Cor. 15:22). In the second place, and precisely because it is a reversal of Adam's decision to die, the resurrection of Christ is a new affirmation of God's first decision that Adam should live, an affirmation that goes beyond and transforms the initial gift of life: 'The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit' (1 Cor 15:45). The work of the Creator who made Adam, who brought into being an order of things in which humanity has a place, is affirmed once and for all by this conclusion. It might have been possible, we could say, before Christ rose from the dead, for someone to wonder whether creation was a lost cause. If the creature consistently acted to uncreate itself, and with itself to uncreate the rest of creation did this not mean that God's handiwork was flawed beyond hope of repair? It might have been possible before Christ rose from the dead to answer in good faith, Yes. Before God raised Jesus from the dead, the hope that we call 'Gnostic' the hope for redemption from creation rather than for the redemption of creation might have appeared to be the only possible hope. 'But in fact Christ has been- raised from the dead…’ (1 Cor 15:20). That fact rules out those other possibilities' for in the second Adam the first is rescued. The deviance of his will, its fateful leaning towards death has not been allowed to uncreate what God created.”

In affirming the created order in Christ's resurrection, God has affirmed our role as cultural stewards in that created order.

While we await the full realization of the glorious promise of our resurrection, we are responsible to act in ways that anticipate that promise. Justice Sunday 2 and other efforts by evangelicals are part of our job as cultural stewards.

For a more comprehensive account of Evangelical cultural responsibility please visit the National Assoc of Evangelicals website and download "For the Health of the Nation: An Evangelical Call to Civic Responsibility"

http://www.nae.net/images/civic_responsibility.pdfMike McLoughlinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00983184715535806136noreply@blogger.com
